Almost Architecture
A database documentary by Matt Soar (no longer accessible online).
Almost Architecture is a short interactive film about high-rise signs in Montreal. It features interviews with Robert Baron (CBC/Radio-Canada Montréal), Derek Drummond (School of Architecture, McGill University), David Hanna (Département d’Études Urbaines et Touristiques, UQÀM) Bill Kovacevic (Enseignes Transworld Signs), and Claire Poitras (Urbanisation, Culture et Sociétè, INRS).
This database narrative was produced using the Korsakow, a software application that allows users to create nonlinear, or database narratives. Korsakow was created by Florian Thalhofer, a media artist who lives and works in Berlin.
This project was generously funded by The Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada.
